Due to restricted space at the Sudbury Ephemera Archive (SEA), the trustees have made the decision to
be more selective about the documents it is able to accept. This does not affect the items already donated to the archive.
It will no longer accept:
- Photographs – these should be passed to the Photographic Archive operated by the Sudbury Museum Trust.
- Newspapers – actual newspapers take up space and rapidly get into a poor state, making
saving them very difficult. As there is already a British Newspaper Archive available on line and more recent newspaper articles may be re-called via internet searches, the SEA is unable to accept a newspaper unless it is a very rare edition. The same policy applies to community news sheets. Newspaper cuttings will be kept if part of a specific collection. - Booklets – multiple copies of booklets can no longer be stored and SEA reserves the right
to store no more than three copies of any one publication (unless they are likely to be required for
group use at any time). - Framed photographs – these take up a great deal of space, which is no longer available.
A form will be produced in the near future and the donor will be asked to give contact details and specify what they wish to happen to the item if it is not accepted or no longer wanted by SEA.
