Nuisance Books or Inspectors’ Journals
This month our featured acquisition is the collection of Nuisance Books or Inspectors’ Journals that Sudbury Town Hall recently donated to SEA – these have turned out to be fascinating snapshots of how our ancestors lived their daily lives.
Anyone who attends the History Sundays lectures at the Quay Theatre will know that Dr Jonathan Belsey retrieved quite a large amount of information from these tomes for his recent lively talk on ‘Privies, Drains and Disinfection’.
The various books cover the years shown below, for a large area of both Suffolk and Essex.
