Sudbury Ephemera Archive has had some interesting enquiries during this summer that proves that it is serving a useful purpose. There was a visit from an author looking for background material for a book he was working on. A researcher paid the team a visit and an enjoyable time was had by all present as well as providing some interesting information connected with her research. A third enquiry came from a member of the public wanting to substantiate some data about a property in the town. Two out of three enquiries were helped by the Turner/Thornton papers providing the necessary facts.
One enquiry this summer involved Ballingdon Hall and its move further up Ballingdon Hill in 1972. We have photographs of this event but if anyone has specific memories relating to this or information about the Hall before it was moved, SEA would be very pleased to hear from you. Fortunately, a second visitor that afternoon could recount his memories of the week the move took place. Please write down your memories of this event and send them to SEA via the website or leave your account of the move at Sudbury Town Hall marked ‘FAO SEA’ in an envelope with your name and address.
